Poha Berry Lanterns (by Rosa Say)
An early Christmas gift!
No doubt about it, my forte as a gardener is unintentional neglect! Seems that’s how the best things happen for my humble yard patches… Came back from a trip to find that my poha berry plants purchased this past summer are blooming for the first time!
I have very fond childhood memories of these in my grandmother’s Kula Maui garden, and though I can find bottles of jam here it’s been decades since I’ve seen them growing. I’d bought the plants at a summertime Farmer’s Market and have hovered about them hopefully ever since.
