Relationships make the world go round. It ain’t cliché, it’s true.
Okay, I’ve tried best I could, but it’s time for me to get real about this.
I am getting MUCH more aggressive about filtering the mail which makes it into my inbox. Some of the marketing stuff getting sent to me these days by publicists is pretty intriguing and well written, but I’m sorry folks, there is just too much of it, and I don’t have time to take the rabbit trail anymore, no matter how much you try to convince me it will be worth my time.
If you do get through, I’ve got to say no.
We have to have a relationship of some kind if you want me to read your stuff, interview your guy, or publish that fascinating info in your press release. I hate appearing snobbish and uncaring, and I’d love to help you, but there is only so much I can do in a day’s time… I’m not making enough progress on my own stuff enough to care that much about yours. Sorry, that is just the way it is.
Reading my blog just enough to address your email to me by name isn’t enough. Tweeting to me for a week or two isn’t going to cut it either. If I don’t know you yet, and you’re hoping I blog about you or your stuff one day, read Managing with Aloha and become part of our Ho‘ohana Community. That’s the relationship I am most interested in because that’s where I thrive enough to help you the best way I can.
Plus I really want to do more for the people who have been supporting the Aloha missions of the Ho‘ohana Community, taking better care of them, and I have to find more time to do that.
You know, when I really think about this, why do you want me to publish my opinion on your stuff when you don’t know me well enough to know if my opinion is worth anything? Read MY book, engage with me and my friends on my blog, and know what you’re asking for!
You may discover just how valuable that is, (and how brilliant they are) …
P.S. If you have been following along, Aloha kākou :-) This decision is part of our Sweet Closure each October.
